Client: FDOT District 7
Location: Pasco County, Florida
Completion Date: Estimated 2018
The purpose of this project is to reconstruct the existing I-75 at SR 56 diamond interchange to a diverging diamond interchange (DDI). Specific improvements include modifying lane configurations to improve capacity, geometric refinements along SR 56 and the I-75 ramps to accommodate the DDI configuration, and improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities within the project limits. All improvements will be designed within the existing right-of-way while maintaining the existing SR 56 over I-75 bridge width and cross slope. The drainage improvements will consist of a closed drainage system, median swales, nutrient treatment, modifications to existing ponds, and potential regional/joint use ponds. Permits are expected from the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the Southwest Florida Water Management District, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
