I-75 at SR 72 (Clark Road) Interchange

Client: FDOT District 1

Location: Sarasota County, Florida

Completion Date: Estimated 2017

Description/Photos:

The purpose of this project is to reconstruct the existing I-75 at Clark Road interchange facility to the ultimate configuration as defined in the Project Development and Environment Study (PD&E). The interchange will be reconstructed as a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). The interchange improvements will also require the replacement of the existing I-75 at SR 72 (Clark Road) bridges. I-75 will be constructed to accommodate the ultimate typical section of a ten-lane facility with two express lanes and three general use lanes in each direction. North of Clark Road, an auxiliary lane will be added in both directions along I-75. The drainage improvements will be open ditches, ponds, and floodplain compensation. Permits are expected from the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the Southwest Florida Water Management District, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
