The study focused on converting MD 5 to a fully controlled access highway with transit and high occupancy vehicle (HOV) options. Developed alternatives for two new interchanges and redesigning the I-95/I-495 interchange to include direct access to the Branch Avenue Metro Station on the DC Metro’s Green Line. Designed alternatives for mainline widening. Conducted environmental access analysis. Proposed interim/value alternative at an existing signalized intersection to convert to a four-legged CFI with operational life to at least the design year.
